how music is made tangible:
each painting is made from a song
each painting comes with that song
every song used to create a painting is uploaded onto a private web page, generated into a QR code, printed onto a plaque and provided with the painting
to see and hear, simultaneously, indefinitely
live:
To make it tangible no?
Years ago
I’d vamp an E chord in reverse
When I closed my eyes
I’d see autumn leafs spinning
Felt them on my face
Literal movement of the time signature
I knew then - that I wanted: that.
To feel it on my face
To run my hands over the texture
To watch sound dance
And it wasn’t just that idea
It wasn’t that literal
It was the fist clench at the end of a song
The sadness from the last movement
The clamoring to still hold it
It grew
It was the need to break bottles
That’s. That’s when the yolk was born
Trapped inside a shell, an expression yet to be had
And oh how frustrating!
I knew the yolk by feel
But could not touch it
So I worked
The sole purpose of
To be able to donkey kong
A puddle of yolk
Feel it run down my hands
Through my fingers
Drip around me
And know
I’d made it tangible
